How fit do I need to be?
If you’re interested in kiteboarding, you should be in reasonable shape, but you don’t have to be an elite athlete. We teach kids as young as 8, and our oldest student was 70 years old! Strength isn’t necessary for this sport because you fly mostly from your harness and how much kite power you can handle depends more on your body weight and technique. Nonetheless, you should be strong enough to unhook the control bar when you need it. Although you may feel fatigued in your legs at first, your endurance will increase as your skills improve. It’s also imperative to be able to swim well and feel comfortable in the water. Basically, you’d be able to get yourself out of a situation faster if you were physically fit.
